The Mississippi Gulf Coast women's basketball team had a double-digit third-quarter lead evaporate Monday in Summit. The Bulldogs lost 65-61 to host Southwest Mississippi.
Gulf Coast led 43-32 with five minutes left in the third quarter but couldn't hold on. The Bears (2-2) took the lead with 26.4 seconds left.
Sharisse Bridges (So., Jackson/Callaway) led Gulf Coast with 16 points. Elsie Harris (So., Mobile, Ala./B.C. Rain) added 10.
The Bulldogs host Delgado on Thursday. It's the only basketball doubleheader of the season at the Weathers-Wentzell Center with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. The men play Jones at 7:30 p.m.
