Down by eight almost four minutes into the fourth quarter, Mississippi Gulf Coast scored the last 17 points of the game to beat Mississippi Delta 55-45 in Moorhead.
Elsie Harris (So., Mobile, Ala./B.C. Rain) had 13 points to lead the Bulldogs, including making all six free-throw attempts in the final frame.
Ayanna McNairy (So., Brookhaven/Brookhaven) came off the bench and buried two 3-pointers to start the run. Sharisse Bridges (So., Jackson/Callaway) limited the Trojans to one shot by cleaning the glass in the final five minutes.
TK Catchings (So., New Hebron/Simpson Academy) added 10 points for Gulf Coast, which improved to 13-6 overall, 5-5 MACCC. The Bulldogs are now in a tie for ninth place in the conference, one spot out of the state tournament field.
Delta falls to 5-12, 1-8.
Gulf Coast is back on the road Monday with a trip back up north to play Northwest Mississippi in Senatobia. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
