Mississippi Gulf Coast trounced Southwest 6-0 on Monday to close out the 2018 regular season, with Chloe Fell and Kelby Zendejas scoring twice each.
The victory clinches second place in the MACJC South Division outright, earning the Lady Bulldogs a home quarterfinal game on Thursday night.
"It's a little momentum going into the playoffs Thursday," Gulf Coast coach Jackie Rhodes said. "We'll need a big win there."
Fell (Fr., Bury, England/Woodhey) scored the first and last goals unassisted. She also assisted on the first goal of the year by Shae Mallard (Fr., D'Iberville/D'Iberville).
Both the goals by Zendejas (Fr., Brandon/Northwest Rankin) were set up by Jade Bernet (Fr., Alicante, Spain/Narrabundah), and Tamara Thomas (So., Pass Christian/Pass Christian) scored off a pass from Bailey LaFontaine (So., Pearl/Pearl).
"I think our starting group only had to play 45 or 50 minutes," Rhodes said. "Then we were able to get a lot of people some time out there, which is nice."
Hinds will visit Bary Thrash Field on Thursday for the playoff opener. Start time will be 6:30 p.m.
