No. 16 Lady Bulldogs cruise

PERKINSTON — No. 16 Mississippi Gulf Coast blanked Wallace State-Hanceville 9-0 in women's tennis action Monday at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

The Lady Bulldogs (11-2) won their fifth match in six days.

Bianca Buie (So, Baia Mare, Romania/Gheorghe Sincai National High School) and Margarita Lopareva (Fr, Moscow, Russia/School No. 1101) won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Tierney Holmes (Fr, Greenwood/Greenwood) and Megan Bankston (Fr, Gulfport/Gulfport) won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, and Jillianne Craft (So, Gulfport/St. Patrick) and Jenna Lyons (So, Pascagoula/Pascagoula) won 9-8 at No. 3.

All six of those players went on to win their singles matches to close out the sweep.

Gulf Coast returns to action Thursday when they travel to Meridian to Central Alabama. First serve is at 10 a.m.
