MGCCC women earn national academic awards
PERKINSTON — Five Mississippi Gulf Coast women's tennis players earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete honors, helping the Lady Bulldogs claim an ITA All-Academic Team award.
Megan Bankston (Fr, Gulfport/Gulfport), Bianca Buie (So, Baia Mare, Romania/Gheorghe Sincai National High School), Tierney Holmes (Fr, Greenwood/Greenwood), Margarita Lopareva (Fr, Moscow, Russia/School No. 1101) and Jenna Lyons (So, Pascagoula/Pascagoula) had GPAs of 3.50 or better and won individual awards.
Teams had to have a GPA of 3.20 or better for their awards. Only 13 community colleges in the country achieved that mark.
