Georgieva, Charlton win against WCU

PERKINSTON — Krissy Georgieva and Noni Charlton provided the highlight of the afternoon for Mississippi Gulf Coast against four-year William Carey.

The English freshmen defeated WCU's No. 1 doubles team of Valeriya Shurbina and Sabrina Goetzen 6-4, getting the Bulldogs their only point in an 8-1 defeat in an exhibition match at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

The Crusaders are ranked fourth in the latest NAIA rankings.

Georgieva took Shurbina to a third set in their No. 2 singles match but fell a little short.

Gulf Coast returns to MACJC action Saturday with a showdown against Jones at Perk. First serves are set for 11 a.m.
