No. 18 MGCCC grabs 4th straight win
PERKINSTON — No. 18 Mississippi Gulf Coast won its third match in as many days Saturday, blasting Itawamba 8-1 at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.
"We came out really strong," Gulf Coast coach Gary Bourgeois said. "We knew they were going to be excited to play us again because we beat them early in the year pretty easily. I think we snuck up on them, so I knew this would be tougher. We dropped a match here, and a lot of the courts were closer."
The Bulldogs (10-1, 8-1 MACJC) won all four matches they played this week. They closed out a season sweep of ICC, having beaten them 9-0 in Fulton earlier in the season.
Gulf Coast will get a slight break from its rigorous schedule, playing next Saturday against East Central. First serves in Perkinston are set for 1 p.m.
