No. 13 MGCCC edged by No. 7 Collin

No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast nearly pulled off big upset Tuesday in the Tyler Spring Invitational in Texas.

The Bulldogs were edged by No. 7 Collin County 5-4.

Gulf Coast's Danique Vermue (Fr., 's-Heerenhoek, Netherlands/Scheldemond College) and Angela Moreno (So., Sevilla, Spain/IES V Centenario) won their No. 1 doubles match 8-4. Niyah Strickland (So., Pachuta/Quitman) and Kendall Burn (So., Wiggins/Stone) made it two doubles wins with an 8-6 victory at No. 2. 

Vermue won a second point by winning at No. 2 singles. Dallas Tanner (Fr., Hattiesburg/Oak Grove) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.

Lauren Sullivan (Fr., Laurel/Laurel Christian) lost her No. 4 singles match 6-4, 6-2.

That wrapped up the women's play at Tyler. They'll return to MACCC action after spring break on March 26 when they head to Southwest Mississippi.
