
Coleman, Odum named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — A'Leigh Coleman and Keymari Odum have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Sept. 19-25.
Coleman, a freshman keeper from Ocean Springs, faced an astounding 36 shots on goal for Gulf Coast with a save percentage of 88.9. She stopped 18 of 31 shots in a 3-0 loss at No. 4 Holmes, then held No. 17 East Central to a single goal by stopping 14 shots in a 1-1 tie.
Odum, a sophomore wide receiver from Haines City, Fla., caught six passes for an eye-popping 201 yards against No. 8 East Mississippi. He had touchdown catches of 80 and 68 yards.
Also nominated:
Grayson Nester, a freshman keeper from Flowood, went 1-0-1 last week for Gulf Coast. He stopped two shots in a 1-1 tie at Holmes, then stopped all four shots he faced in a 1-0 double-overtime win against East Central.
Gabe Showalter, a freshman kicker/punter from St. Martin, had a perfect night on placements, highlighted by going 8-for-8 on kickoff touchback against No. 8 East Mississippi. He also made all six extra points and his only field-goal attempt from 22 yards. He punted six times for an average of 36.7 yards.
