Harrell, King named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Jett Harrell and Blake King have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Nov. 20-26.

Harrell, a freshman right-hander from Clarksdale, threw three complete games and went 2-1. She struck out eight in a 2-0 loss to No. 11 Pensacola State (NJCAA Division I), and beat Bishop State 7-1 on four hits and Mississippi Delta 11-1 on three hits. She struck eight against Delta. Harrell also homered in both ends of the Pensacola State doubleheader and batted .500 with eight RBI.

King, a freshman from Petal, struck out 10 in a three-hitter to beat Illinois Central 5-1. He allowed three singles and gave up three walks.

Also nominated:

Darius Dawson, a sophomore forward from Sumter, S.C., had 20 points and 10 rebounds in an 87-80 loss at Copiah-Lincoln. He tallied 14 points and five rebounds in a 75-74 overtime loss to East Mississippi to close out the season.

Tytiana Buckley, a freshman from Meridian, had her third double-double during a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs to close out the regular season. She had 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 69-49 win over Copiah-Lincoln, adding two steals. In a 61-49 win at East Central, she had 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

Anderson Dulaney, a sophomore from Long Beach, went 4-0 during a perfect week for Gulf Coast. He stepped up to win 8-0 at No. 1 doubles and 6-0, 6-1 at No 1 singles in a 9-0 win over Northeast. In an 8-1 win against Co-Lin, he won at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles.

Bayley Askin, a sophomore from St. Martin, went 4-0 in a dominant week for Gulf Coast, which won a pair of 9-0 matches. She won't 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles against Northeast, also winning at No. 2 doubles. At Co-Lin, she won at No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles.

K.K. Agner, a sophomore corner infielder from Horn Lake, batted .526 in a 5-1 week for Mississippi Gulf Coast. She had three doubles and five RBI.

Sean Smith, a sophomore outfielder from Pascagoula, batted .688 and hit two more home runs in a 2-2 week for Gulf Coast. He's tied with teammate Charlie Keller for the NJCAA lead with eight homers. He stretched his hit streak to 10 games and is batting .513.
