11 Bulldogs named All-MACCC South

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast landed 11 players on the All-MACCC South team, led by linebacker Mike Smith, who was the Defensive MVP among backs.

He was joined on the First Team by wide receiver Jalen Bracey, offensive lineman Percy Lewis, defensive lineman Deven Wright and kicker Dylan Wasson. The Second Team included wide receiver Rico Dorsey, offensive linemen Zy Crisler and Jacob Cox, defensive lineman Jace McCoy, linebacker C.J. Williams, and defensive back DeCarlos Nicholson.

FIRST TEAM

LB Mike Smith

Smith, a sophomore from Flora, finished fourth in the MACCC with 90 total tackles. He had an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and four pass breakups. It is his second All-MACCC South First Team selection.

WR Jalen Bracey

Bracey, a sophomore from Jackson, finished third in the MACCC with 42 receptions and second with eight touchdowns. His 15.3 yards per catch were fifth in the league. He had 642 receiving yards. Bracey, a MACJC All-Academic and NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Award winner, earned his second All-South First Team selection.

OL Percy Lewis

Lewis, a sophomore from Sallis, is ranked the top JUCO offensive lineman in the country. He helped Gulf Coast be the fourth-ranked team in the MACCC in total offense and points.

DL Deven Wright

Wright, a sophomore from Clarksdale, finished second in the MACCC with 7.5 sacks. Ten of his 34 total tackles were for loss, and he had a force fumble.

K Dylan Wasson

Wasson, a freshman from Madison, was third in the MACCC with 61 points. He led all kickers by making 10 field goals and made 34 of 35 point-after attempts, the best percentage in the conference.

SECOND TEAM

WR Rico Dorsey

Dorsey, a freshman from Hattiesburg, finished fourth in the MACCC with seven touchdown catches. He had 29 catches for 329 yards.

OL Zy Crisler

Crisler, a freshman tackle from Crystal Springs, helped Gulf Coast be the fourth-ranked team in the MACCC in total offense and points.

OL Jacob Cox

Jacob Cox, a sophomore center from Amory, helped Gulf Coast be the fourth-ranked team in the MACCC in total offense and points.

DL Jace McCoy

McCoy, a sophomore from Summit, finished third in the MACCC with seven sacks. He had 54 total tackles, third-most among all Bulldogs. He finished with 10.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

LB C.J. Williams

Williams, a sophomore from Taylorsville, finished second on the Bulldogs with 59 total tackles. He had eight tackles for loss, three sacks, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble. Williams is already a two-time MACJC All-Academic and NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Award winner.

DB DeCarlos Nicholson

Nicholson, a sophomore from Petal, led the MACCC with 16 pass breakups in his first season as a cornerback. He had 19 total tackles and two tackles for loss.
