Lady Bulldogs fall at Holmes

Mississippi Gulf Coast saw its four-game winning streak end Tuesday on the road in Goodman, falling to Holmes 3-0.

Lady Bulldogs coach Jackie Rhodes said it wasn't difficult to explain why it happened.

"Probably the worst 90 minutes of soccer we have played," she said. "We were not ready to play a game today. We got outworked for 90 minutes. A hard-working team will beat a lazy team any day."

Gulf Coast, the second place team in the South, falls to 5-2-1 after the non-division loss, with Holmes, which is second in the North, improving to 8-1.

Micaela Robinson scored for Holmes in the 33rd minute, with Brooke Burrell getting a second in the 78th.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action Friday when Jacksonville College visits the new MGCCC Soccer Complex in Perkinston. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.

"Sometimes, taking a loss is a good thing," Rhodes said. "We'll build back from it and move forward."
