No. 4 Gulf Coast leads by 27 after 18

No. 4 Mississippi Gulf Coast surged to a big lead in the first round of the Bulldogs' first MACCC tournament of the year. They shot 8-under at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club and lead East Mississippi by 27 shots.

Five Gulf Coast players are in the top seven in Philadelphia, with all six in the top 15. The Bulldogs weren't even able to count their best score, shot by Andrew Zielinski (So., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs). He fired a 5-under 67 playing as an individual.

All four of Gulf Coast's counting scores were under par. Will Burnham (So., Jackson/Jackson Prep) is tied for third at 3-under, a shot behind East Central's Will Thompson.

Peyton Russell (Fr., Gautier/Gautier) and Stanley Campbell (Fr., London, England/Essex Golf College) are tied for fifth at 2-under, with John Mark Mills (Fr., Pontotoc/Mike Bender Golf Academy) another shot back.

Kyle Davidson (So., Kyalami, South Africa/St. Peter's College) shot 2-over and is tied for 10th.

The teams play the final round Tuesday with a shotgun start getting things under way at 9 a.m.
