Zielinski wins SwingU Player of the Month
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast Andrew Zielinski zoomed up the national rankings with a strong February, and the sophomore golfer has been named the SwingU Player of the Month.
Zielinski fired eight birdies on the way to a 3-under score to win the Gulf Coast Invitational at Diamondhead. The No. 1 Bulldogs won the MACCC event by 31 strokes.
The second-ranked golfer in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd ratings also had five birdies at the MACCC Showcase to shoot 68, finishing second at Canebrake County Club in Hattiesburg. The Bulldogs won that 18-hole event by 13 shots.
Zielinski, who is from Ocean Springs, and the Bulldogs will play in the final two MACCC events over the next two weeks. They have won seven straight tournaments.
