Georgieva nets ITA award

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Krissy Georgieva has won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Region III Player to Watch for NJCAA competitors.

Georgieva, a freshman from Sutton, England, was undefeated against junior college opponents, 10-1 with the only loss a three-setter against William Carey's No. 1 player.

She and fellow international Noni Charlton (Fr., Ipswich School/Ipswich, England) were 8-3 as a No. 1 doubles tandem. 

Georgieva led the Bulldogs to a 10-1 record, including an 8-1 mark in conference. The team was poised to make a run at the MACJC and NJCAA Region 23 titles before the season was canceled.
