PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's baseball regular-season will end Friday, and the Bulldogs still control their own playoff destiny.
In a convoluted postseason picture, if ninth-place Gulf Coast wins twice against sixth-place Northeast Mississippi at Booneville on Friday, it will clinch a spot. The doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. and will be streamed at https://nemcctv.com/blackchannel/.
There are five teams fighting for the final three playoff spots: Hinds, Southwest Mississippi, East Mississippi, Gulf Coast and Northwest. The multitude of scenarios even include ones where the Bulldogs get into the playoff without winning a game, but they don't want to take that chance.
They stand tied for ninth right now with East Mississippi, but hold a tiebreaker advantage unless the Lions can sweep first-place East Central. The top nine teams qualify for the postseason, and there are important seeding spots on the line for all the teams from second place through the Bulldogs' melee.

- MGCCC: 18-26/11-15 MACCC, T-9th place in conference
- Northeast: 28-18/15-9 MACCC, 6th place in conference
Last Time Out
- MGCCC lost twice Monday at Meridian, falling 9-8 and 14-6.
- Northeast split with Mississippi Delta on Monday at Moorhead, winning 12-1 and losing 6-5.
Previous Meeting
On March 13, 2022, Gulf Coast and Northeast split at Perk. The Tigers won the opener 5-3 before the Bulldogs shut them out 3-0.
