White makes MGCCC debut Saturday

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will unveil a new weapon Saturday when the Lady Bulldogs resume their schedule with a 2 p.m. visit by Bishop State.

Daphane White (Fr., Gulfport/St. Martin) makes her debut after transferring from Mississippi State. She was one of the most highly recruited post players in the country last year, averaging 25.8 points, 14.7 rebounds and 5.7 blocks as a senior at St. Martin.

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC won its second straight game with a 70-36 win over Delgado on Dec. 5. Kayla Simmons (Fr., Brandon/Brandon) had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead the way.

  • Bishop State got edged 67-65 at Baton Rouge on Dec. 10. Salis Martin had 19 points to lead the Lady Wildcats, who have lost seven straight.

Previous Meeting

Bishop State won the first meeting between the teams this season, a 74-71 decision in Mobile in early November. Azaria Howard (So., Richland/Richland) had 16 points for Gulf Coast, and Payne led Bishop State with 25,
