Simmons named All-Region 23
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Kayla Simmons has been named to the NJCAA All-Region 23 Team after her breakthrough freshman season.
The forward from Brandon led the Lady Bulldogs with 12.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She scored in double figures 15 times, with a season-high asdf, and had double-digit rebounds nine times.
Simmons had a season-high 18 rebounds at Delgado in November and a season-high 21 points against East Central in December.
She helped led Gulf Coast to a 16-10 record, and the Lady Bulldogs went 9-5 in the MACJC South after having gone winless in the division the year before. The team advanced all the way to the NJCAA Region 23 championship game before bowing out.
