Lady Bulldogs set to take on SWCC

PERKINSTON — Coming off its biggest win the season, Mississippi Gulf Coast wants to keep improving its place in the standings when the Lady Bulldogs entertain Southwest on Thursday.

Tipoff at the Weathers-Wentzell Center is set for 5:30 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://livestream.com/MGCCCBulldogs/events/8553611.

The top four teams qualify for the MACJC Tournament. Gulf Coast hasn't qualified for the tournament since 2013.

  • MGCCC: 9-7/5-4 MACJC South, T-3rd in division

  • Southwest: 8-10/3-6 MACJC South, T-6th in division


Last Time Out

  • MGCCC defeated Copiah-Lincoln for the first time since 2013, winning 66-57 Monday in Perkinston. Shelli Thigpen (So., Wylie, Texas/Wylie) led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points.

  • Southwest won 60-47 at Meridian. Ty Lee had 14 points for the Lady Bears, who have won two straight.

Previous Meeting

Gulf Coast beat Southwest 81-74 at Summit on Jan. 14 behind 19 points from Allison Martin (Fr., Edwards/Raymond). Breannah McCullah (So., Edwards/Raymond) had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Kayla Simmons (Fr., Brandon/Brandon) had 17 points and 13 rebounds.
