Lady Bulldogs lose to PRCC

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast saw a halftime lead disappear against Pearl River on Tuesday night, falling 72-65 at the Weathers-Wentzell Center.

The Bulldogs (7-5, 3-2 MACJC South) made a season-high eight 3-pointers, with all five of the buckets from Aleah Sutton (Fr., Jackson/Madison Central) coming behind the arc. But the Lady Wildcats (10-4, 3-2) made 14 of their own, also a season high.

Allison Martin (Fr., Edwards/Raymond) had 18 to lead Gulf Coast, and Daphane White had 10.

The Lady Bulldogs led 23-12 after 10 minutes, finishing the first quarter on a 17-1 run. White had three straight buckets in that stretch.

Pearl River cut the deficit to seven at halftime, then unleashed a 20-4 run across the end of the third quarter into the fourth to take control.

Gulf Coast falls into a third-place in the South with Pearl River, a game back of Copiah-Lincoln and two behind No. 8 Jones. The Lady Bulldogs travel Thursday to Ellisville to play the Lady Bobcats. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
