No. 14 MGCCC gets another W

PERKINSTON — No. 14 Mississippi Gulf Coast needed to win four singles matches to come back against No. 16 Wallace State-Hanceville, and the Bulldogs' Wesley Fontaine clinched the win in a 5-4 victory at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

Fontaine (Fr., Biloxi/Biloxi) needed a third-set tiebreaker to do it, beating Will Brackin 6-0, 6-7, 10-7.

Anthony Schloegel (Fr., Gulfport/St. Patrick) won twice for the Bulldogs, who stayed undefeated through 15 matches. He teamed with Clint Verrett (Fr., Gulfport/Gulfport) to win No. 3 doubles 8-6 over Andrew Bizilia and Ben Hicks, and won again at No. 6 singles, beating Hicks 6-2, 6-3.

Patrick Roth (Fr., Pascagoula/Resurrection) and Cole Wagoner (Fr., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) also won their singles matches.

Gulf Coast is back in action after spring break when it plays Jones at Perkinston. First serves are set for 1 p.m. The Bulldogs have four matches next week, the final week before the postseason.
