The Mississippi Gulf Coast women's soccer team showed just how far it's come Friday, going toe-to-toe with No. 6 Jones in Ellisville. The Bulldogs battled the Bobcats before falling 2-1.
Jones opened the scoring in the 51st minute before Molly Etchells (Fr., Manchester England/Longdendale) set up Hannah Salter (Fr., Olive Branch/Lewisburg) for the equalizer in the 54th minute.
Jones, however, scored less than a minute later.
Skyler Steede (So., Lucedale/George County) had eight saves for Gulf Coast.
The Bulldogs fell to 2-2, 1-1 MACCC South. Jones is 3-1, 1-1.
Gulf Coast entertains East Central on Sunday. The game is scheduled to be played at 2 p.m., but the time and location may change because of wet playing conditions.
