Brown named USC All-American

PERKINSTON — Katie Brown made serious noise in her first season in a Mississippi Gulf Coast uniform, and the nation's coaches have taken notice.

The freshman midfielder from Picayune has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Women's All-America Team. The 25-person squad across all three NJCAA divisions was released Thursday.

Brown helped Gulf Coast to a second-place finish in the MACCC South. The Bulldogs had an 8-5-2 record.

She finished second in the conference with nine assists. Her eight goals were fifth-best in the MACCC.

Brown had a goal and three assists in a 9-0 win at Copiah-Lincoln, then scored twice with an assist in a 5-0 win over Co-Lin at Perk. She followed that game with another two-goal performance in a 3-0 victory at Southwest Mississippi.

She has been named to the All-MACCC and All-NJCAA Region 23 teams already this postseason.
