
Buggs, LaFontaine named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast football player Isaiah Buggs and women's soccer player Casey LaFontaine have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Oct. 3-9.
Buggs, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound sophomore defensive lineman from Ruston, La., had four tackles, one assist, one sack and three quarterback hurries in the Bulldogs' 42-0 win at Mississippi Delta. He leads the Bulldogs with 43 total tackles with season.
LaFontaine, a 5-foot-5 freshman midfielder from Pass Christian, had a goal in Mississippi Gulf Coast's 2-0 win over Pearl River during a 1-1 week for the Lady Bulldogs. She has four goals on the season.

Kassady Walters, a freshman goalkeeper from Harrison Central, picked up her sixth shutout of the year in a 2-0 win over Pearl River, then allowed only one goal while facing 19 shots against No. 11 Jones County.
James Beattie, a sophomore from Glasgow, Scotland, had two goals and two assists in Mississippi Gulf Coast's two victories. He had a goal and two assists in a 4-1 win over Pearl River, and was one of four different Bulldogs who scored in a 4-2 victory at Jones County, which clinched a playoff spot.
Melvin Stevenson, a sophomore running back from Clarksdale, ran 13 times for 85 yards and a touchdown in Mississippi Gulf Coast's 42-0 win at Mississippi Delta.
Tyler Flathau, a sophomore from Hattiesburg, punted 6 times for a 41.2-yard average in Mississippi Gulf Coast's 42-0 win at Mississippi Delta.
