
Sartin, Mills-Derouen named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week
PERKINSTON — Jasmine Sartin and Dylan Mills-Derouen have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Feb. 27-March 5.
Sartin, a sophomore from Biloxi, went 6-0 in singles and doubles matches, helping Gulf Coast sweep to three straight 9-0 match victories. She lost only three games in three doubles matches.
Dylan Mills-Derouen, a sophomore pitcher from Biloxi, beat Illinois Central 1-0 with a three-hitter. He struck out nine and walked just three to improve to 3-1.

Tedrian Brisco, a sophomore from Vicksburg, had a double-double in MGCCC's 84-83 loss to Holmes in the first round of the MACJC Tournament. He had a team-high 18 points and game-high 10 rebounds, shooting 4-of-6 from the field and making all 10 free-throw attempts. Brisco also had two blocked shots.
Izzy Werdann, a sophomore catcher/third baseman from Pensacola, batted .444 in four MGCCC games last week, driving in five runs thanks to a home run and two doubles. Her on-base percentage was .643 thanks to being hit by four pitches and walking once. Werdann's big game came in an 8-5 victory over Lansing where she drove in four runs on two doubles and one hit-by-pitch. Her home run against No. 6 Northwest Florida State (D-I) was the only Lady Bulldogs score in a 3-1 loss.
Logan McGrew, a freshman catcher from Sumrall, batted .600 (3-for-5) in a pair of games for MGCCC. He went 2-for-3 with a double in a 2-1 victory over Alabama Southern, then had a solo home run for the only score in a 1-0 win over Illinois Central. His pitchers allowed only one run in 14 innings of work.
Brett Bowen, a sophomore from Oxford, won five of six matches in a 3-0 week for Gulf Coast. He didn't lose a game at No. 6 singles against Copiah-Lincoln.
