Cole-Johnson, Tobias named Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON — Basketball player Davion Cole-Johnson and Shaniqua Tobias have been named Mississippi Gulf Coast Student-Athletes of the Week for Oct. 31-Nov. 6.

Cole-Johnson, a sophomore forward from Glen Ellyn, Ill., had 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in Gulf Coast's 119-63 victory over the William Carey JV. Johnson was 7-of-9 from the floor, helping the Bulldogs shoot 66.7 percent from the field.

Tobias, a sophomore from New Orleans, had a team-high 16 points and three assists in the Lady Bulldogs' 63-61 victory over host Baton Rouge in the Lady Bears Classic.

Also nominated:

Zach Parker, a sophomore forward from Biloxi, had 19 points including shooting 5-for-6 from the 3-point line. Gulf Coast shot 72.7 percent from behind the arc against the William Carey JV.
