
Hall tops list of 15 All-MACCC South Bulldogs
PERKINSTON — Led by MACCC South Player of the Year Trey Hall, Mississippi Gulf Coast occupied the most spots on the All-MACCC South team with 15.
The team was voted on by coaches in the division and announced by the conference Wednesday.
Hall ran for 1,098 yards in 10 games, ranking third in the NJCAA with 109.8 yards per game. He had 13 rushing touchdowns, second-most in the MACCC, and his 7.4 yards per carry ties the school record for a season.
The sophomore from Vicksburg was one of five Bulldogs on the First Team. Gulf Coast tied with East Central and Copiah-Lincoln for most on the First Team.
He was joined on that list by wide receiver JP Coulter, offensive lineman Mikyal Trotter, defensive lineman Javen Gibson and linebacker Montrell Chapman. Three Bulldogs made the Second Team: defensive back Damani Dent, offensive lineman Crosby Mullins and quarterback Landon Varnes.
Gulf Coast had seven on the Honorable Mention list: tight end Matt Adcock, wide receiver Mason Beverly, offensive lineman Ryan Pascal, defensive lineman Al Sandifer, defensive back Damaryion Fillmore, linebacker Keshawn Thomas and defensive back Marcus Washington.
WR JP Coulter, First Team
The sophomore from Ocean Springs led Gulf Coast with 48 catches for 860 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 86.0 yards per game and 11 touchdowns are second-best in the NJCAA, and his 17.9 yards per catch tops the MACCC.
OL Mikyal Trotter, First Team
The sophomore guard from Laurel paved the way for a Bulldogs offense which ranks second in total offense in the country. Gulf Coast is fourth in passing and fifth in rushing.
DL Javen Gibson, First Team
The sophomore end from Church Point, La., leads the MACCC with 15 tackles for loss. His six sacks are fifth-best in the league.
LB Montrell Chapman, First Team
The sophomore from Batesville is fourth in the MACCC with 74 total tackles. His 44 assists led the Bulldogs, and his 30 tackles were second.
QB Landon Varnes, Second Team
The freshman from Brandon leads the MACCC with a 62.9 completion percentage, 2,242 yards, 8.5 yards per attempt and 27 touchdowns. His touchdowns are second-most in the NJCAA, as is his 160.4 quarterback efficiency rating.
OL Crosby Mullins, Second Team
The sophomore from Mendenhall was a vital contributor to the nation's fifth-highest scoring offense. The Bulldogs averaged 39.8 points per game, with the second-most passing touchdowns and 10th-most rushing scores.
DB Damani Dent, Second Team
The freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., was third on the Bulldogs with 57 total tackles. He also grabbed a pair of interceptions.
TE Matt Adcock, Honorable Mention
The sophomore from Raleigh moved over from defensive end and had four catches for 50 yards.
WR Mason Beverly, Honorable Mention
The sophomore from Purvis had 30 catches for 439 yards and eight touchdowns. He was second in the MACCC in touchdown receptions and fourth in yards per catch (14.6).
OL Ryan Pascal, Honorable Mention
The sophomore center from Picayune quarterbacked an offensive line which allowed only 18 sacks.
DL Al Sandifer, Honorable Mention
The sophomore tackle from Greenwood was second on the Bulldogs with 4.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss. He had 33 total tackles.
DB Damaryion Fillmore, Honorable Mention
The sophomore corner from Biloxi was seventh in the MACCC with three interceptions and 10th with six passes broken up.
LB Keshawn Thomas, Honorable Mention
The sophomore from Ocean Springs was seventh in the conference with 70 total tackles. He had 7.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.
DB Marcus Washington, Honorable Mention
The sophomore from D'Iberville had 44 total tackles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
