
Felton, Hines named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Taelar Felton and Brandon Hines have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Nov. 4-10.
Felton, a freshman point guard from Clinton, was deadly from the free throw line during a 2-0 week for No. 17 Mississippi Gulf Coast. She averaged 21.5 points, including a 16-for-17 day at the charity stripe on the way to a 28-point outburst in a 79-73 win over Calhoun. She had 15 points in a 79-37 win over Enterprise State. Felton also averaged 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
Hines, a sophomore running back from New Orleans, was pressed into quarterbacking duties in No. 5 Gulf Coast's 33-31 loss at No. 4 Northwest Mississippi in the MACCC semifinals. He engineered three touchdown drives, completing 4-of-6 passes for 46 yards and two touchdowns and rushing 12 times for 32 more yards. The Bulldogs rallied to lead twice after trailing by 11 at halftime.

Javen Gibson, a sophomore defensive end from Church Point, La., had nine tackles against Northwest. Three of those were for losses totaling eight yards.
Luke Hopkins, a sophomore forward from Clinton, scored No. 6 Gulf Coast's goal in a 1-1 game against No. 10 Pearl River in the NJCAA Gulf District semifinals. The Bulldogs fell 6-5 in penalties.
Connor Mullins, a freshman kicker/punter from Brandon, made both field goal attempts against Northwest Mississippi. He punted three times, forcing one fair catch with one going out at the 5-yard line. Mullins also had a tackle on a kick return.
Mekhi Strong, a freshman forward from Edwards, averaged 10.7 points in a 2-1 week for Gulf Coast. He shot 64.7 percent from the floor and had 1.7 steals per game.
