Mills, Felton named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — John Mark Mills and Taelar Felton have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Feb. 3-9.

Mills, a sophomore from Pontotoc, shot 6-under to win the Titan Winter Invitational in Melbourne, Fla. He helped lead Gulf Coast to its fourth straight tournament title.

Felton, a 5-foot-3 freshman guard from Clinton, averaged 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 4.0 steals in a 1-1 week for Gulf Coast. In a 69-48 win at East Central, Felton had a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists, adding eight rebounds and three steals. She had 13 points with 6 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in a 59-54 loss at Coahoma.

Also nominated: 

Valeria Callejo-Vivar, a sophomore from Madrid, Spain, picked up two points in No. 12 Gulf Coast's 7-2 season-opening win over Coastal Alabama-South. She teamed with Danique Vermue to win 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, then double-bageled her No. 2 singles opponent.

Gonzalo Cotter, a sophomore from Valencia, Spain, won both his matches in No. 12 Gulf Coast's 5-4 win over Coastal Alabama-South. He teamed with Ryland Buford to win 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, then won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

Kaden Irving, a sophomore corner infielder from Gautier, batted .800 and slugged 1.800 in a doubleheader sweep of Reid State. He had four hits, including a homer and a triple, and drove in three runs.

Karley Rouse, a sophomore from D'Iberville, went 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA in three appearances for Gulf Coast. She threw a one-hitter to beat Coastal Alabama-South 2-1 and pitched the final 2.2 innings without allowing a hit in a 10-2 win over No. 2 Kirkwood. She got a no-decision in a 7-5 extra-inning win at Bishop State, allowing three earned runs in seven innings.

Irina Sanford, a sophomore outfielder from Lucedale, batted .333 during a 4-1 week for Gulf Coast. She had two doubles and four RBI.

Walker Seaman, a freshman right-hander from Grand Bay, Ala., struck out five in three hitless innings of relief in a 4-2 win over Reid State.
