
20 Bulldogs earn CSC Academic All-District honors
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast had 20 student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams announced Tuesday.
There were 10 men and 10 women to make the squads, which include community colleges, Canadian institutions and other non-NCAA and non-NAIA divisions which comprise the at-large teams. Nominees must have a 3.50 GPA or greater and the award recognizes combined performance in the athletic realm and the classroom.
The men's winners include men's soccer's David Ruiz Ospina (So., Manizales, Colombia/Gimnasio del Pacifico), Victor Moerck (So., Vaerlose, Denmark/Lyngby Handelsgymnasium), Kade Smith (So., London, England/Whitmore), and Nygel Jobe (So., Brandon/Brandon); baseball's Jacob Palazzo (So, Biloxi/Gulfport); golf's Ludvig Behring (So., Sollentuna, Sweden/Osterakers Gymnasium), John Mark Mills (So., Pontotoc/Mike Bender Golf Academy) and Stanley Campbell (So., London, England/Essex Golf College); and football's Marcus Washington (So., D'Iberville/D'Iberville) and Crosby Mullins (So., Mendenhall/Simpson Academy).
The women's winners include women's soccer's Dana Brooks (So., Alajuela Costa Rica/Colegio Jesus Ocaña Rojas) and Azlyn Dawson (So., Taylorsville/West Jones); women's tennis's Lauren Sullivan (So., Laurel/Laurel Christian), Danique Vermue (So., 's-Heerenhoek, Netherlands/Scheldemon College), Valeria Callejo-Vivar (So., Madrid, Spain/I.E.S. Ortega y Gasset) and Dallas Tanner (So., Hattiesburg/Oak Grove); softball's Karley Rouse (So., D'Iberville/D'Iberville), Olivia Falcon (So., St. Amant, La./St. Amant), Savannah Wilbanks (So., Southaven/DeSoto Central) and Madison Laiche (Fr., Luling, La./John Curtis).
The College Division's Women's Academic All-America Team will be announced July 8, with the Men's Academic All-American Team released the following day.
