Dom Jackson's first-inning home run put Mississippi Gulf Coast on its way to a fourth-straight win to open the season. The Bulldogs won 8-5 at Coastal Alabama-South in Bay Minette, Ala.
Jackson (Fr., Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) hit a three-run shot and finished 2-for-4 with a double. Brody Swindle (So., Fairhope, Ala./Bayside Academy) struck out six in 4.2 innings
Blake King (So., Petal/Petal) struck out five in 4.1 innings of relief.
Landon Holliman (Fr., Hattiesburg/Sumrall) had a double for Gulf Coast.
The Bulldogs travel to Brewton to play Coastal Alabama-North in a Tuesday doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon.
