Red-hot Bulldogs host 1st home DH

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will try to keep its hot start going Friday when the Bulldogs host their first doubleheader.

First pitch against Coastal Alabama-South is set for 1 p.m. It will be two seven-inning games.

On Jan. 27, Gulf Coast swept a doubleheader at Bay Minette, beating the Coyotes 15-4 and 8-4.

• Gulf Coast is trying to equal the best start to a season since the 2018 team won its first eight games. That team won 16 of their first 17 games and finished third at the Region 23 Tournament.
• Dom Jackson (Fr., Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) is tied for the NJCAA lead with five home runs. He's ninth with 15 RBI and seventh in slugging (1.350).
• Brandon Cain (So., Mobile, Ala./Baker) is third in the NJCAA with two triples. He's tied for fifth with two wins, and opponents are hitting .037, which is eighth-best.
• Marc Stephens (So., Orange Beach, Ala./Gulf Shores) is 13^th in the country with four doubles.
