No. 17 MGCCC grabs another win at nationals

No. 17 Mississippi Gulf Coast won another match Monday at the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship, with Bianca Buie advancing in the No. 2 singles consolation bracket.

Buie (Fr, Baia Mare, Romania/Gheorghe Sincai National High School) defeated Pima's Janine Fernando 8-1 to pick up another half-point for the Lady Bulldogs. MGCCC now has 8.5 points, good for 17th in the field and tops among MACJC teams.

Gulf Coast had four tough matches in the main draw, but lost all of them. Three of those loses came to seeded opponents. The top six players or teams are seeded in the brackets.

The Bulldogs have consolation draw matches in Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 5 singles tomorrow, as well as No. 1 singles.
