MGCCC women earn ITA academic awards

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's women's tennis team had six players earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete awards for 2016-17. The Lady Bulldogs, who won the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament, also earned the ITA All-Academic Team award for having a GPA of 3.20 or better.

Bianca Buie (Fr, Baia Mare, Romania/Gheorghe Sincai National High School), Katie Burrall (So, Hernando/Hernando), Kaci Calhoun (Fr, Florence/Florence), Jillianne Craft (Fr, Gulfport/St. Patrick), Paulina Estrada (So, San Luis, Mexico/Colegio Del Bosque) and Jenna Lyons had GPAs of 3.50 or better to win individual recognition.

Nationwide, only 22 teams and 124 players earned honors in the community college ranks.
