6 MGCCC teams earn NJCAA academic honors
PERKINSTON — Six Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College teams earned NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Honorable Mention awards for the 2016-17 academic year.
The women's tennis team, which finished 15th at the NJCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship, led all MGCCC teams with a 3.64 grade-point average.
Softball (3.35), women's soccer (3.26), men's soccer (3.25), golf (3.23) and men's tennis (3.21) also earned distinctions.
Teams with a GPA of 3.0 or higher won honorable mention honors. A total of 740 teams across the country achieved the mark, setting a new NJCAA record.
