Shepherd, Daniels named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week

PERKINSTON – Jess Shepherd and T'Rod Daniels have been named Mississippi Gulf Coast Student-Athletes of the Week for Sept. 12-18.

Shepherd, a freshman from Manchester, England, had three goals in two Lady Bulldog victories. She scored twice in a 2-0 win at Southwest, then added another in a 2-1 victory over Meridian.

Daniels, a sophomore from Bassfield, ran 13 times for 103 yards and a 75-yard touchdown in a 21-7 win over No. 3 Copiah-Lincoln. He also had two touchdowns negated by penalty, a kickoff return and another rush.

Reggio Dean, a sophomore linebacker from Laurel, had nine total tackles, including two sacks, and forced two fumbles against Co-Lin. Four of his tackles were solos.

Logan Leary, a freshman from Dutchtown, La., was medalist in the first MACJC golf tournament of the season. He shot a blistering 66 in the opening round in Wesson and finished 4-under to lead a Bulldogs 1-2-3 sweep at the top of the leaderboard. Leary also finished fifth at the Wallace State Fall Invitational earlier in the week.
