Eadsforth, Longsden named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week
PERKINSTON — Liam Eadsforth and Erin Longsden have been named Mississippi Gulf Coast's Student Athletes of the Week for Sept. 19-25.
Eadsforth, a 5-foot-11 freshman midfielder from Manchester, England, had two goals in the Bulldogs' 4-1 win over Andrew College. He has seven goals and five assists in nine games.
Longsden, a 5-foot-5 freshman midfielder/forward also from Manchester, had two goals in an 8-0 thrashing of Hinds last week. She has five goals and three assists in seven games.
Also nominated were:
Jordan Hall, a freshman from Manchester, England, had all the goals in a 4-0 win over Hinds to extend his streak of hat tricks to four games. The streak was snapped in a 4-1 win over Andrew College, but he picked up an assist on the go-ahead goal. Hall is second in the country with 17 goals in nine games.
Bryce Yelverton, a sophomore from Gulfport, stopped all 13 of 14 shots he faced while picking up two wins. He notched his NJCAA-leading sixth shutout in a 4-0 victory over Hinds.
Ge'Vonte Jones, a sophomore running back from Tillatoba, ran 10 times for 89 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown. He also caught two passes for 37 yards.
Tyler Glass, a freshman safety from Greenwood, had 12 tackles and an assist against East Central. He also had a tackle for loss.
