
Avery named MGCCC Player of the Week
PERKINSTON — Terrion Avery has been named MGCCC Player of the Week for Oct. 22-28.
Avery, a sophomore running back from Stone High, ran for 171 yards and two touchdowns in Gulf Coast's 45-24 win over Hinds. He averaged 7.1 yards on his 24 carries for a Bulldogs offense which piled up 352 yards rushing with a three-running back attack.
Also nominated:
SchDarren Archie, a freshman cornerback from Brandon, had seven tackles against Hinds. Two of the tackles were for losses, and he broke up a pair of passes.
Mason Hunt, a sophomore kicker/punter from Stone High, was perfect on six PAT attempts and had a 25-yard field goal against Hinds. He averaged 37.5 yards on a pair of punts and had perfect placement on his sky kicks on kickoffs, one of which resulted in a fumble.
