Gulf Coast falls to Hinds

Mississippi Gulf Coast lost 10-8 in 10 innings to Hinds on Wednesday in Raymond in a non-conference game.
The Bulldogs and Eagles played a single nine-inning game as a makeup for a doubleheader postponed earlier in the year. Gulf Coast led 5-0 after two innings and 8-3 after six but couldn't hold the lead.
Both teams used the opportunity to give extensive playing time to their usual bench players.
Alex McWhorter (Fr., Mobile Ala./Faith Academy) had a home run and two RBI, while Tucker Thomas (So., Biloxi/Biloxi) had a solo shot.
Josh Cary (Fr., Petal/Petal) and Canaan Ray (Fr., Poplarville/Poplarville) also had two hits.
Gulf Coast will take part in a three-team tripleheader at Perkinston on Thursday. The Bulldogs will play No. 8 Meridian at noon and No. 19 East Central at a game scheduled for 6 p.m. In between, the Eagles and Wildcats will play.
