McWhorter picked for All-Region 23
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast third baseman Alex McWhorter can add another honor to his resume. He's been named to the All-NJCAA Region 23 Team after a sensational freshman season.
The Mobile, Ala., product was one of four infielders to make the 15-player team. He led the Bulldogs with a .412 batting average, 10 home runs and 49 RBI.
"We're excited to see what to come from him," Gulf Coast Wes Thigpen said. "He had 10 homers, 10 doubles and hitting over .400, that's a special year. These awards are well deserved for him."
McWhorter also had four saves, tied for third-most in the MACCC. He did after having rehabbed following Tommy John surgery.
