Hunt named MACJC Player of the Week

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast kicker/punter Mason Hunt has been named MACJC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Bulldogs' 46-21 win at Coahoma last week.

Hunt, a sophomore from Stone High, was superb in less-than-ideal conditions. Playing more than half the game in a driving rainstorm, he averaged 43.9 yards on eight punts and made all six extra-point attempts. Hunt and the punt unit were more than 18 yards better per punt than the Tigers.

Hunt won MACJC and NJCAA Player of the Week honors last year for the Bulldogs. He's eligible this week for the national honor again.

Gulf Coast returns to action at A.L. May Memorial Stadium on Thursday when Holmes visits. Kickoff between the undefeated teams is at 7 p.m. The game can be watched online at https://livestream.com/MGCCCBulldogs/events/8366055 or heard at SuperTalk 103.1 FM.
