No. 12 MGCCC loses to No. 6 JC

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast has made a habit of falling behind Jones and rallying to win. On Friday at Bary Thrash Field, the Bulldogs dug so big a hole they couldn't claw their way out.

The Bulldogs, ranked 10th in the NJCAA men's soccer poll, lost 4-1 to No. 6 Jones.

Gulf Coast had trailed at halftime the previous two meetings, and the Bulldogs were down 2-0 at the break.

Jones, however, expanded the lead this time by adding two more goals before Hyungjoon Lee (Fr., Suwon, South Korea/Dongbuk) finally got Gulf Coast on the board in the 84th minute.

The Bulldogs (7-5, 5-2 MACCC South) maintained a solid grip on second in the division, but fell a further game behind Pearl River. The top three teams in the South qualify for the postseason.

Jones is 8-3, 4-3.

Gulf Coast plays back at Perk on Tuesday when Copiah-Lincoln visits. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
