No. 13 MGCCC will host playoff game

PERKINSTON — No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast couldn't hand No. 3 Pearl River its first loss of the season in the regular-season finale Tuesday, but the scoreless draw the Bulldogs earned punched their playoff ticket.

"It's exciting for us," Gulf Coast coach Chris Handy said. "It's kinda been an up-and-down season for us, but to see the performance these guys put out tonight and how hard we worked, which is a theme we've been harping on, I'm proud of them."

Gulf Coast will host an MACCC men's soccer quarterfinal next Tuesday against Northwest Mississippi at Bary Thrash Field. The time has yet to be determined.

The Bulldogs are 9-5-1 overall, 7-2-1 in the South Division. That earned them the No. 2 seed in the division and the right to host the No. 3 team from the North. The Rangers are 4-10-1, 4-4 North.

"To have a week to get healthy and better is good for us," Handy said. "The playoffs is where we make our money, so we're looking forward to it."
