Bulldogs battle Bears with playoff seeding at stake

No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast has clinched its spot in the MACCC playoffs and is now playing for the chance to host a quarterfinal game in two weeks.

The Bulldogs travel to Southwest Mississippi on Thursday for a 4 p.m. kickoff in Summit. The game will be broadcast at https://go.smccbears.tv/.

Gulf Coast is in second in the South Division, one game ahead of Jones. If it can maintain that spot through the game against the Bears and the regular-season finale against Pearl River on Tuesday, the Bulldogs would get one more home playoff game on Nov. 2.

  • MGCCC: 8-5/6-2 South, 2nd place in division
  • Southwest: 5-9/1-7 South, 6th place in division

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC beat Copiah-Lincoln 3-1 on Tuesday, Three different Bulldogs scored in a balanced attack.
  • Southwest lost 2-1 at Jones on Tuesday.

Previous Meeting

The Bulldogs beat the Bears 4-1 in Perkinston on Sept. 21. Gulf Coast scored all four goals on set pieces, one corner and three free kicks.
