No. 14 Gulf Coast blanks ECCC

PERKINSTON — No. 14 Mississippi Gulf Coast is two matches into the 2023 MACCC men's tennis season, and they still haven't dropped a court.

The Bulldogs skated past East Central 9-0 on a chilly Friday at MGCCC Tennis Complex.

"We rocking and rolling pretty good," Gulf Coast coach Sam Blackburn said. "East Central was not a team to be taken lightly. They have some good players, and one of their doubles courts was tricky. You can't take a team like that lightly or they can jump up and scare you. We were good about staying disciplined and playing our type of tennis. We did what we needed to do."

Anderson Dulaney (So., Long Beach/Long Beach) and Orren Ladner (So., Perkinston/Stone) blanked their No. 2 doubles opponents 8-0 to lead the Bulldogs to a quick 3-0 lead.

Triston Hill (Fr., Perkinston/Stone) won his No. 6 singles match 6-0, 6-0 to highlight action in the second segment of play. Ladner, who transferred from ECCC, beat his old roommate 6-1, 6-0.

Gulf Coast is back in action at Perk on Mardi Gras. First serves Tuesday are set for 2 p.m.
