No. 15 Bulldogs score against No. 5 Collin

No. 15 Mississippi Gulf Coast picked up points against at top-five opponent Tuesday during its Texas trip.

Paul Gayk (So., Muelheim an der Ruhr, Germany/Berufskolleg Lehnerstrasse) picked up points in both his matches in a 7-2 loss to No. 5 Collin in Tyler, Texas. He teamed with Owen Stice (Fr., Atlanta, Ga./Laurel Springs) in No. 1 doubles to win 8-6, and he won his No. 1 singles match 6-2, 7-6.

Stice played his French opponent tough at No. 2 singles, losing 6-3, 7-5. Kyle Bond (So., Wiggins/Stone) lost 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, and Orren Ladner (So., Perkinston/Stone) lost 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5.

Gulf Coast will close out its three-day Texas adventure on Wednesday. The Bulldogs play No. 1 Cowley at 10 a.m. before heading back to Perk. The Bulldogs will play at Wallace State-Hanceville on Saturday before Spring Break next week. They'll be back in MACCC action against Southwest Mississippi on March 28 at Perk.
