No. 14 Gulf Coast blows out Sun Chiefs
A bit of a slow start didn't prevent No. 14 Mississippi Gulf Coast from blasting No. 22 Coastal Alabama-South in men's tennis action Thursday in Bay Minette, Ala.
"The guys played pretty good overall coming back from a loss the other day," Gulf Coast coach Sam Blackburn said. "We were a little slow in doubles, but we jumped out in singles really quick. They played some of the best singles as a team they have all season based on how they performed top to bottom. I'm really, really proud of them."
Gulf Coast (6-1) lost at No. 3 doubles but swept all six singles courts. Anderson Dulaney (So., Long Beach/Long Beach) won his No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0. Kyle Bond (So., Wiggins/Stone) and Orren Ladner (So., Perkinston/Stone) won their singles matches in third-set tiebreakers.
The Bulldogs return to MACCC action Tuesday with another road trip, this time to Raymond. They'll take on No. 21 Hinds with first serves at 2 p.m. Their next home match has been moved up a day, with Holmes visiting Perkinston on March 9.
