UPDATE: Softball season-opener moved up a day

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's 2024 softball season will start a day earlier than originally scheduled thanks to Mother Nature.
Because rain is in the weekend forecast in Youngsville, La., the Bulldogs will open play in the Mardi Gras Invitational on Thursday. Game 1 will be against Angelina College at 3 p.m., with a second game at 5:30 p.m. against Lamar State-Port Arthur.
The Bulldogs will play National Park at 11:30 a.m. Friday, with the finale against Pratt at 7 p.m.
All their games are being played at the Youngsville Sports Complex.
