Bulldogs lose twice at PSC

Mississippi Gulf Coast couldn't complete a comeback in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday, falling twice at Pensacola State.

The Bulldogs lost the opener 9-2 and fell 3-2 in the nightcap. Kamryn LaFosse (So., Lake Charles, La./Sam Houston) had a two-out, two-run double in the fifth to pull them within one run in Game 2, but they couldn't close the deal.

After giving up three solo home runs in the first, Olivia Falcon (Fr., St. Amant, La./St. Amant) allowed just two hits over the next five innings.

Savannah Wilbanks (Fr., Southaven/DeSoto Central) doubled in each game.

Jett Harrell (So., Clarksdale/Lee Academy) had two hits, including a double, in the first game. Jorja Roberson (So., Branyan/East Union) also doubled. LaFosse had an RBI.

The Bulldogs committed six errors in the game, leading to eight unearned runs.

Gulf Coast opens its home schedule Friday when it hosts the MGCCC Invitational at Ross-Smith Field. The Bulldogs play Lamar State-Port Arthur at 11 a.m. and Coastal Alabama-South at 4 p.m. The two visitors play each other at 1 p.m., and it will be the same schedule Saturday.
