UPDATE: Softball will play at 4 Monday for final postseason seeding

Mississippi Gulf Coast lost a pair of games Saturday at Northeast Mississippi, but the Bulldogs can still host a playoff game Tuesday.

The Tigers won 4-0 and 10-5 in Booneville, so Gulf Coast will have to travel to Wesson on Monday to finish a game against Copiah-Lincoln that was started on March 13. If the Bulldogs win that game, they'll be the seventh seed in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament and host Northwest Mississippi on Tuesday. If they lose, they'll be the ninth seed and travel back to Northeast.

Gulf Coast outhit Northeast 6-3 in the opener, but the Tigers got an inside-the-park grand slam in the second for all the runs in the game. Jett Harrell (So., Clarksdale/Lee Academy) had three hits, including a double, and Jorja Roberson (So., Branyan/East Union) had two hits. AB Parrish (Fr., Corinth/Alcorn Central) had a double.

In the second game, Roberson had three more hits. Natalie Shaw (So., Olive Branch/Marshall Academy) had two hits, including a double, to drive in two runs. Irina Sanford (Fr., Lucedale/George County) also doubled.

The Bulldogs' game at Co-Lin was protested with the Bulldogs up 7-6 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. The Wolves had runners at first and third. The game will be resumed from there.

Monday's game will start at 4 p.m., unless there is a change forced by an iffy weather forecast.

Gulf Coast is 33-21 overall, 15-12 in MACCC play.
